I have an old logitech wired headset that I use for the PS3. I have seen a few videos that suggest that they can hear footsteps from the headsets they are using. Mine comes from the T.V. Do I need a newer headset or am I missing some kind of setting in the options? If it is just my headset then I am going to look for a newer one that is durable and comfortable. Any ideas?

    BlueWolf,
It could be your settings. There are options for sound that you can set for voice, music, etc and even a total overall volume setting, I use this feature, to lower my music setting, so i can hear footsteps sound effects etc….better. I just use the regular speakers from my TV and I hear footsteps when somebody is behind you very easily (unless they have the perk that makes you quiet….can’t remember its name off the top of my head at moment) I can do some research on the best one, but at the moment I don’t have a recommendation for headsets since I don’t use them, plus how would you use your bluetooth to communicate with your peeps?

Good point… I guess the sounds are all just jumbled together unless they use the headset specifically for that purpose. Like they mute everybody and just use it to hear footsteps. I checked into a few headsets on turtlebeach.com and saw a few that suggest that you can differentiate where the sounds are coming from in the game. Unfortunately most of them are for X-Box and not PS3 . They have one that is universal but does not seem as advanced as others. Not to mention they are really spendy. Any way the perk is Ninja pro and thanks for looking into it. Let me know what you find. I will continue to look as well. Thanks again

I’m assuming you are using the headsets, so as not to bother the rest of the household??? LOL. If you are looking for the BEST setup though IMHO it is through a decent surround sound system. I have a REALLY nice setup with Sony Receiver and Klipsch Surround speakers which is amazing; however, I rarely use it since its in the “family common area”, so mostly I use the setup in my “ManCave/office” LOL Which is just the TV speakers, and my sony PS3 bluetooth headshet. But occasionally it is awesome to play MW2 on the Big screen and main Home entertainment area…….really awesome, you can even here which side enemy is creeping up on you, but I see your interest in the Headsets, if you live in a flat/apt that you don’t want to be to “noisy” at.

Yes sir you got it… I wish I had a man cave.

I guess it depends on your situation. I work graveyard shift, so on my off nights, I use my Turtle Beach X31′s so that I don’t wake the girlfriend and the kids. They aren’t that expensive ($85 – 100) for the quality that they put out. It’s pretty true surround sound, meaning that I can differentiate the direction of the gunfire and footsteps. Of course, I have to agree with CODBunker, if you have room for a mancave, go that route. It’s a bit more money than headphones, but SOOOO worth it…

I can hear footsteps without a headset, just use a gaming chair directly plugged into the composite cables, yes i still have composite and not hd :( .
But you should try getting adapters to make it so you headset is directly into composites if you use them try getting jack to compostie audios of ebay.
Btw i use a X Rocker II Special Edition
But as someone else said turtle beach headsets are very good.

    COMPOSITE?
    ARRRGGGHHHHH!!! LOL
No way! HDMI all the way. With that said, I haven’t searched much but am dying to know if there is a HDMI splitter out there…..1 input 2 outputs, or even one that splits the video from the audio????? Anybody heard of something like that?

if you split ur signal though it makes ur picture and or sound quality worse. i can c doing it if you need 2 but otherwise i wouldn’t.
