COD Elite has an Important Announcement

February 7, 2012 in ELITE, MW3, NEWS

Beach Head Studios had an important announcement today *drum roll*………
No it’s not when CLAN Operations will be starting……Fooled you, huh?!
They have announced their Code of Conduct.
They did; however, state that Clan Operations will be coming SOON! How soon is soon? Who knows, but at this rate they should move their operations inside “The Beltway” in Washington D.C. I hear there are a lot of people there that give the same type of answers ;) I may not be the most patient person in the world, but if my memory serves me correct we should have been able to have a “WORKING” Elite on the day of MW3′s release. Let’s peruse portions of some of their/ATVI’s press releases, to refresh our memories, shall we?

“SANTA MONICA, Calif., July 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Call of Duty® Elite beta is live. The pre-release of this innovative new digital community platform, built expressly for the 30-million strong Call of Duty® fanbase”

30 MILLION STRONG HUH? I would bet that Elite could possibly, just maybe draw 10% of this base (3 Million) so surely they would be prepared for that many………Right?

When it launches, Call of Duty Elite will offer fans an unrivaled experience by providing “always-on,” universal communication between the service and the game. Players will be able to access the service anywhere, anytime via mobile, tablet, web or inside the console game itself. As they do, they will see how Call of Duty Elite brings their Call of Duty experience to life like never before. Schedule a match with friends on the fly, change a weapon load-out or research a new gameplay strategy from your desk at work, the train ride home, or anywhere else, and have it ready and waiting for you in-game when you get home and play. ”

Plus, when the new service rolls-out with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, players will be able to enjoy a level of unprecedented clan support. With a focus on competition

“Nov. 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Activision Publishing, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI), announced today that it has sold one million premium memberships of Call of Duty® Elite after six days. By comparison, the premium subscription services of Netflix, Hulu Plus, Sirius XM and Xbox® LIVE®, each reached one million paid subscribers after approximately one year.

Since Call of Duty Elite’s launch on November 8, more than four million gamers have already registered for the new online service overall. Additionally, more than 80,000 Elite clans have been created, 100,000 user-generated videos have been uploaded to Call of Duty Elite and the service has had more than three million daily logins.

“The audience response to Call of Duty Elite’s premium service has been beyond our expectations, and we want to thank Call of Duty players around the world for their unprecedented enthusiasm,” said Bobby Kotick, CEO, Activision Blizzard. “The number of gamers who have registered for Call of Duty Elite further illustrates how this service is poised to redefine social gaming and set a new bar for interactive entertainment.”

“The demand for Call of Duty Elite at launch was so overwhelming, that for the first several days, the service did not perform up to our or our fans standards. I want to personally thank our fans for their patience. Our teams have been working around the clock to get the service scaled up to meet demand,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO, Activision Publishing. “I’m very pleased to announce today that the service is now performing stably and anyone who wants to try Call of Duty Elite is now able to do so. Due to the scaling challenges we encountered at launch, we are giving all Call of Duty Elite premium Founder members an additional 30 days of the service free of charge.” ”

OK, so it was slightly more than 10%, lets say roughly 14% of it’s fan base……..and they were OVERWHELMED!!!
Well, on the bright side, we did finally get iPhone/Android/Mobile support in January, but we still are waiting on the “unprecedented clan support. With a focus on competition”

BOTTOM LINE: Beach Head, you should have come out with a BUSINESS PLAN/MODEL BEFORE you post your Code of Conduct, usually that’s the order in which most successful corporations do …….#JustSaying

Final thought:
Beach Head, you may want to change you advertisement on your website to entice people to go premium, since it is CLEARLY misleading….. #PhotoBelow as taken 2/7/2012 1700 EST

Note under the “Unlock Clan Level Benefits tab, it states:

“Join Clan Competitions and earn new in game tags & emblems Earn Double XP as you level up your clan with operations & challenges”

Clearly this is advertising for NOW! not “Upcoming” #JustSaying
