Contacting Actision with MW2 problem on PS3

Following up on B Brown’s comment:
“I just talked to a guy from psn and he blamed it all on activision servers being down….. He said they don’t have a timetable to fix it at psn call activision”

I am submitting below email to: Activision Support

“Communication with Activision Servers has been interrupted.”
I’m sure you are aware of this issue with COD Modern Warfare 2.
Please provide feedback on this issue and what is being done to resolve it. I contacted PSN and they stated that it was “Your” issue with your servers. Please advise.



We’ll see if they respond.

    If you are having issues connecting to online games please note that currently the servers are down.

    Stand by….

    We are aware of this issue and are working to get the servers back up again. If you still have issues connecting to servers after the servers have been repaired please check the following:

    * Disable any firewall or security features within your router
    * Set port forwarding on your router to the IP address of your Playstation 3. This game uses port 3074 (UDP/TCP).

    – Place your Playstation 3 into the DMZ of your router.

    – If both fail, disconnect your router and try the game. If it works regularly at this point something about your router may not be completely compatible with the specific needs of this game. Check with your router manufacturer for additional steps that may need to be done to resolve the issue you are having.

    NOTE: If setting port forwarding or DMZ helps your connection issue, you may want to assign your Playstation 3 a static IP address within your home network. This can help to ensure that the configurations you made do not need to done again.

    NOTE: Many broadband internet modems are coming with routing capabilities built in. Please contact your internet service provider to determine if your internet modem has an integrated router. If it does, they should be able to assist you with the steps above for setting up your router.

    * Once you have verified that your network setup is not the cause of the issue you can try the following.

    – Try connecting to a different server. Some servers may have other players connected to them that you do not have an optimal connection with.

    – Back out to the main menu and select Multiplayer and then attempt to join a game.

    If you are having issues with trophies please note that the latest update to the game fixes issues with trophies unlocking. Make sure that you are logged into the Playstation network before launching the game. Once you are logged in and launch the game you will be prompted to download the update. Please download and install the update. This should resolve the issue.

    If your problem is not listed above or you are still having issues please respond back to this incident and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Please note that due to heavy volume it may take longer that usual to get back to you.

    All I got was a pre-recorded message that they are aware of the server problems and are working on them. Nobody will give a time frame. It would be nice if they would say, hey don’t bother playing till saturday, or something…………..

  5. it still happens from time to time. usually at night EST time. its really annoying, sometimes im playing and it just disconnects, other times I cant even go online.

    I hope they fix this soon, come up with a patch or fix their servers.

  6. Ich habe das Spiel (call-duty Modern Warfare 2)am 10.Nov.2009 gekauft,und mußte leider feststellen,das ich mit diesem Spiel
    nicht online spielen kann.Im Forum der online Seite des Spiels konnte ich erfahren das der Server nichteinwandfrei funktionierte.Mitlerweile haben wir den 11.12.2009 und ich kann immmer noch nicht online spielen.Außerdem kann ich nicht mit einem Mitspieler (also mit 2 Spielern gleichzeitig spielen),es kommt zum aufhaengen der ps3.Ich waere sehr dankbar wenn sie mir bei meinem Problem helfen koennten.

    I bought the game (call-duty Modern Warfare 2) on 10.Nov.2009, and was sorry to say that I with this game
    no online play kann.Im Forum of online side of the game I could learn that the server nichteinwandfrei funktionierte.Mitlerweile we have the 11.12.2009 and I can not online yet immmer spielen.Außerdem I can not do with a teammate (ie, simultaneously with 2 players play), it comes to hang ps3.Ich would be very grateful if they could help me with my problem.

    I’m not sure your exact problem, I first thought maybe you need help setting up your router, (port forwarding, DMZ, etc) but when you say that it hangs the PS3 this is perplexing. It could be that your game is faulty and you need to exchange it at the store you purchased it from. Can’t help much more without more specific info.

    I see you use videotron, try this link:

    VideoTron Tech Support.

    It is for XBOX, but may point you in the right direction if you are using PS3.
    Also I will post a tutorial soon for generic setup of router using DMZ, or Port Forwarding.
    If you are familar with Router, set up your device in a DMZ.

  17. I’m watching my “Stats” and there are LOTS of peeps down right now, so its obvious that a server or servers is down somewhere, One location I know for sure is a m8 in Mississippi is down right now at August 26, 2010 20:26:40

  18. since black ops is barely playable i went to play my cod 2 . first week it was fine until 2 days ago when a message popped up (error : communication with the activision servers has been interrupted) today 11/30/2010 is the same shit
